  The Bible
What Is It Anyway?  If you were given a few hours
to read for the first time to jot down some impressions,
you probably would write facts such as these..

A Long Book, Not One Book-But Many Books, All Kinds Of
Stories, History Etc, Mainly About Jewish People, Then About
A Jesus, First Part Written In Hebrew-Second Part Written In Greek.

However, Such Information Doesn't Begin To Answer The Question

But If You'd Keep At It..You Would Probably Say It's Man Search For God. But This Isn't
Enough As A Means In Understanding The Bible.  I Would Much Rather Say,

It's A Record Of Gods Search For Man

And Why?  Well As You Read, Man Seemed Bent On Escaping From God.. But In
Spite Of This, God Continued To Seek Those Same People, Refusing To Give Up,
Continuing The Pursuit, In Spite Of Countless Rebuffs And Evasions.

                            As Do We Today

It's got the excitment and thrill of a detective story, in which the detective (GOD),
relentlessly chases the criminal (MAN) chapter after chapter.  In the Old Testament,
God chases the Jewish people, and the search culminates in the New Testament, where the claim is made that God so desired fellowship with his creation (ALL PEOPLE)
that finally he has not just sent Emissaries, Ambassadors, or Prophets, or Representatives, but..

John 1:14..The Word Became Flesh, And Dwelt Among Us

         In Christ, He Came Himself
The Greatest Event In The History Of Mankind

Ok..The Bible Tells The Story Of God Pursuing Man, And God Finally Himself Came In The Flesh, In Jesus.

But The Bible Itself, What About..

  • Why Are There Sixty Six

              Books?

  • Who Wrote The Bible?
  • Who Decided What Should Go In

              It?

  • Is It Indeed Inspired By

              God?

  • Why Different Translations And

              Versions?

Most People Would Indicate Were In For Trouble, Since There Seems To Be More Questions, Than Answers.

Therefore, Order Must Come From This Perceived Chaos..And How You Ask?

Well, Answers to these questions and others will not be served up on a silver platter, but answers were not given to questions early biblical characters had

on a silver platter either.

The answeres they got had to be hammered home to them in the blood, toils, tears, and sweat ot a tragic history.  These answeres were not hammered out in a study, ar a sunday school class.

Rather, They Emerge From The Rough And Tumble Of Life That We Discover How Right The Bible Answers Are.

IITimothy 3: 16-17.. All Scripture is breathed

out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God, may be complete, equipped for every good work

You See, The Very Thing We Question, Is Where The Answers Lie

Hebrews 11:6.. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Some Help On A Couple Questions

             Order From Chaos

First, Remember A Couple Points About The Bible

  • It's Not A Book "That Fell Out Of Heaven" Complete From Start To Finish.

  • The Bible Was Not Written In English.  Our Bible Is A Translation, Jesus Did Not Speak English.

Point One..It did not fall from Heaven. The Muslims believe the "Koran" made it's appearance in finished form.  The Mormons believe the "Book of Mormon" was given as a finished product to Joseph Smith.

This may make for good doctrine for these beliefs, but the "Bible" did not suddenly appear

all finished and done.

It was a long time in the making..Over 900 Years.

Think Of This..

Jesus Was Able To Read What We Call The Old Testament, And When He Was Reading It..

Two Thousand Years Ago,  Not A Single One Of The New Testament Books Had Yet  Been Written!

PointTwo..The Bible wasn't written in English.   And unless you learn Hebrew, and Greek..You will never read the Bible in the language in which the Authors wrote it.

The english Bible is an attempt to give an accurate translation of Materials which were originally written in other languages.

The Bible Records History, Not All But Enough  To Understand..

God acted upon the lives of men, and as we read it, the possibility is opened up that God can speak through those acts and events..

            Directly To Us.

However, in directly speaking to us, it's not a taped message, or possible not so much through statements, but through his creative activity right..

            Where YOU Are.

Think Of The Bible As A "Special Delivery Letter" with YOUR name and address on it.

It's More Than A Record Of History..

It's A Call, An Invitation, And Urgent Message..

                To YOU

This Is What The Bible Is
