God, The Father, Lets Start Here..
Isiah 55:8.. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,
” declares the LORD.
There will always remain a "sense of mystery about God"
You'll notice I have no picture of God. In Exodus 33:17-23, Moses was allowed to see only God's back. I would be extremely arrogant and presumptious to
understand , (or even worse) write about God.
In doing so, I will always run in the danger of "reducing God to an object", or into
a "something" about which I can write descriptions or make diagrams.
You see.. NO ONE HAS THE WHOLE STORY ON GOD. The full and
unimpeded vision of the divine majesty hasn't been revealed.
We do however, think of God in terms of our own human experience. And in every
attempt to put "God into words" will involve a measure of distortion, since were
trying to describe in terms of our own experience, someone who is..
vaster than all our experience.
We must understand the inadequancy of our human synbols, but at the same time continue to use them..since we have no others.
I've said all the above to say this..
We must face the disturbing fact that there are differing conceptions
of God in the Bible. At times a bloody tyrant, at other times he exhibits mercy and forgiveness.
Remember God reveals himself to people
He comes to all through our clouded visions, in the midst of our imperfect cultures,
in our sin and idoltrary, and we respond to his demands as we understand them,
here and now. Remember, Our response may not be perfect, for we are Men, not God.
HOWEVER..Let's Try To See The Living God Entering Into The Lives Of The People
Of The Bible, So That We Can Prepare Ourselves For Him To Enter Into..
